Joe and Mackenzie of StandardGrain.com do a great job summarizing how important Russia’s (and Ukraine’s) wheat exports are to the global food supply.

Attacks on the Ukrainian port city of Odesa caused substantial damage to port infrastructure, including grain terminals. This has led to concerns about disruptions in Ukrainian wheat and corn shipments, as well as potential risks for Russian shipments. Joe presents export projections, showing that Russia is the top global wheat exporter, while Ukraine’s exports have significantly decreased since the invasion. The potential disruption in Russian exports could have a bullish impact on the wheat market. Furthermore, Ukraine is still a substantial corn exporter, ranking fourth globally.
